Please read chapters 1-3 on “Formal Realism,” the Reading Public, and Economic Individualism, respectively.  Sorry, no e-version is available.

 

Ralph Rader:

“Defoe, Richardson, Joyce, and the Concept of Form in Fiction” is most easily available in my anthology, The Critical Tradition (Bedford Books, 1989), FIRST EDITION.  I have loaded onto this site a more or less readable e-version of this essay (apologies for the printer-garbage in these files—it has to do with setting special fonts and nonstandard characters). It’s in three parts, links to parts 2 and 3 are embedded in Part 1.
