Starting in the fall of 2006, the Equity Studies Research Center is seeking to hire faculty as Independent Contractors associated with the center. The purpose is to provide a mechanism whereby faculty can offer seminars, institutes, and/or workshops through the center. In order to qualify as an Independent Contractor, faculty will need to fill out the application packet identifying their proposed idea for a seminar, institute, and/or workshop; their target audience; and number and length of the session(s). The Equity Studies Research Center welcomes proposals that address diverse topics and/or diverse audiences. A committee made up of the director, deputy director, and independent consultant will review the proposed idea as a possible venue for offering through the Center. After a proposed idea is accepted, the faculty will meet with the center’s staff to coordinate planning for the session(s). Faculty compensation for conducting seminars, institutes, and/or workshops will be $150.00 per hour based on a minimum class size of 20 with a cap of 30. Seminars may be held with fewer participants, but only with corresponding adjustments to hourly rates. The minimum class size for any seminar, institute, or workshop is set at 10.

When Should You Apply: Deadline for applications for Spring 2007 award is February 1, 2006.
Who Should Apply: Any full-time or part-time faculty at Queens College/CUNY interested in providing institutes, workshops, or seminars to the public in association with the Equity Studies Research Center.
