Ben Alexander
The Graduate School of Library and Information Studies welcomes back to the East Coast Dr. Ben Alexander. Dr. Alexander received his Ph.D. in English and American Literature from the Graduate Center, CUNY. Dr. Alexander is returning from the University of California, Los Angeles Department of Information Studies where he served as both Post Doctoral Scholar and Associate Director of The Center of Information as Evidence.
Dr. Alexander had ten years experience in the New York Public Library's Archives and Manuscripts Division. He has considerable teaching experience at the College's English Department, the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies as well as the University of California, Los Angeles' Department of Information Studies.
Dr. Alexander is currently completing a monograph based upon his dissertation and co-editing a second book. He has published in journals as diverse as New England Quarterly, Archival Science, and English Studies in Canada .
In addition he has made invited presentations at the University of Glasgow , Claremont Graduate University and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas .
Returning to the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies is Associate Professor Linda Z. Cooper. An alumna of the school, Dr. Cooper's primary responsibilities will focus on the School's Library Media Specialist program. Dr. Cooper brings to this challenge nine years experience as a school library media specialist. She received her Ph.D. from Rutgers University's School of Communication, Information and Library Studies. She comes back to Queens College, CUNY, after serving as Coordinator of the LMS program at Pratt Institute's School of Information and Library Science.
Dr. Cooper's primary research interest is the information seeking behavior of children. She has published extensively in a number of distinguished journals including the Journal of the American Society for Information and Technology, Library Quarterly and Library Trends.
