INTERNSHIPS are arranged for upper level students after they have completed most of the core required journalism courses. Those interested in broadcast internships must have completed Broadcast Journalism (JRN 202). All internships should be arranged a semester in advance of enrollment. Students need to make an appointment to discuss enrollment or placement with Professor Bianchi).

MENTORS with extensive professional experience in Journalism will be available to students in the Spring '98 semester. Students requesting mentors will be matched with journalists in their areas of interest depending on availability. Those interested should make an appointment to discuss placement with Professor Bianchi.

Long Island’s Newsday is the proud sponsor of two $2,500 one-year scholarships for students studying journalism. This scholarships are designed to nurture future journalists. To be eligible, QC journalism students must be in their freshman, sophomore or junior year and have at least a 3.0 grade point average.

To apply each student must submit an official copy of their transcript, one letter of reference from a journalism professor or professional and two samples of previously published work. Applicants must also submit a 500-word, typed essay on the follow topic: “Why I Want to be a Journalist.”

Scholarship winners will be notified in early May.

To qualify:

• Students must be entering his or her junior or senior year during the fall semester following the time of application, and have completed Journalism 200

• Must be minoring in Journalism

• Have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average

• Be a resident in Queens
