star AVOIDING PLAGIARISM

When you are writing a research paper, you have to be aware of plagiarism and its consequences. Plagiarism is taking someone else's words and using them as one's own without proper credit. Full citations must be provided for all types of sources, including, books, articles, government documents., interviews, internet sources, and media.

Students’ rights and responsibilities are clearly indicated in the QC Undergraduate Bulletin:

http://www.qc.edu/college_bulletins/115980.pdf

Strategies for avoiding plagiarism:

a. Paraphrasing—using someone’s ides but putting them in your own words

b. Putting ideas that are not your own into quotations and citing the source of the idea.
