| One chapter or up to 10% of a book,
whichever is greater, can be placed on ERes. A copy from a book that exceeds
these limits is in violation of copyright. In such a case the Library will
request the appropriate copyright permission (and pay up to $10 for permission)
and the material will be placed on Reserve temporarily while we await a response
to our request. If permission is denied or exceeds the $10 limit, the entire
book will be placed on Reserve. If neither the Library nor the instructor owns
the book, the Library will try to purchase it. |
| WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS:
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the
making of photocopies of other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain
conditions specified in this law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a
photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the
photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private
study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses,
a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may
be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse
to accept a copying order, if, in its judgement, fulfillment of the order would
involve violation of copyright law. |
