Facilities & Equipment
The Music Library contains the following equipment for patrons to use.
Computers
The Music Library has five public computers. Two are located on the main floor between reference and periodicals while three additional computers are located on the bottom floor in the listening area. Students can access all Queens College and CUNY catalogs and resources as well as the Internet.
While students are welcome to check their email and surf the web on these computers priority needs to be given to patrons who are doing research.
Media Center
The Aaron Copland School of Music’s Media Center is located in the Music Library. There are five PC and five Mac computers for student use as well as one printer. The printing is free, but patrons must provide their own paper. Please contact Professor Hubert Howe with all Media Center comments and problems (hubert.howe@qc.cuny.edu or 718-997-3865).
Printers
A pay-to-print station is located at the circulation desk. Current patrons can print items from any computer in the Music Library to this station. Once you have sent all materials you require to the printer, you will need to log into the pay-to-print station and pay prior to receiving your printed materials.
The Media Center in the Music Library provides a free printer, but patrons must supply their own paper.
Listening Stations
The Music Library has a number of listening stations that allow patrons to listen to CDs, cassettes, and LPs, including 15 CD players, 7 cassette decks, and 6 LP players. All listening stations are located on the bottom floor of the library. Patrons can check out headphones at the circulation desk or use their own.
Video Station
The Music Library also has a VCR located near the listening stations. Patrons can check out headphones at the circulation desk or use their own. Patrons can watch DVDs on the computers in the Media Center.
Photocopiers
A photocopier is located on each of the two floors of the Music Library. The main floor photocopier is near the circulation desk while the bottom floor photocopier is near the listening stations. Both only take copy cards. A copy card machine is located on the main floor near the circulation desk.
Microform Reader/Printer
Microfilm and microfiche can be read and printed from in the Music Library. A machine that reads and prints from both microfilm and microfiche is located on the main floor. This machine only accepts copy cards and charges $.20 per page.
