Noorullah Mashriqi scored the golden goal fifty five seconds into the second half to send the Knights and their fans home happy with a 3-2, non-conference victory over Bloomfield College. Mashriqi had all three of the Knights' goals while Adrian Lagos scored twice for the visiting Deacons (3-11-2).
The Knights controlled play early on and took a one goal lead when Mashriqi jumped on a BC miscue, went in on a breakaway from 40 yards in and beat Bloomfield goalkeeper Julian Gaviria at 9:25. Things were looking even better for Queens when Bloomfield was forced to play a man down due to a red card issued to Luis Perez in the 25th minute but Adrian Lagos still managed to split the Knights defense to tie the game at one a minute later. Mashriqi answered that marker with his second of the game when he scored off of the rebound of a Stelios Andreou shot at 31:20. Shortly thereafter the sides were evened up as the result of a red card being issued to QC's Jesus Daniel Cano.
It didn't take Bloomfield long to draw even after intermission. At 48:52 Lagos tied the score when he banged home a rebound off of the crossbar. That did it for the scoring until the second overtime when a pass into the box from QC's Alberto Tortosa was chested in by Mashriqi for the golden goal.
With the win Queens finishes the 2007 regular season with a record of 6-9-1.

Queens College pulled a bit of an upset in battling New York Tech to a scoreless draw in Old Westbury on Monday afternoon. The tie leaves Queens at 5-9-1 overall and 3-5-1 in ECC play and NYIT at 12-3-1 and 5-2-1.
Damian Skiba made four saves and recorded his third shutout of the season in the tie. Stelios Andreou led the Knights with three shots. NYIT outshot Queens for the match by a margin of 17 to 8.

Noorullah Mashriqi's goal in the 62nd minute lifted the Knights to a 3-2 win at New Haven on Saturday afternoon. The win snaps the Knights' three game losing skid.
QC's Johnny Osorio notched his first of the season at 35:46 to open the scoring for the afternoon. UNH immediately responded with goals from Ariel Werbicki at 39:57 and Michelle Loya 43:29 to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.
It didn't take Queens long to pull even as Jesus Daniel Cano scored his third goal of the season just ten minutes into the second half. Six minutes later, Mashriqi took a long through pass from Stelios Andreou, dribble to his left, and put a shot into the net for a 3-2 Knights' lead.
With the win Queens improves to 5-9 overall and 3-5 against East Coast Conference foes. New Haven drops to 5-9-1 and 3-4-1.

The University of Bridgeport Purple Knights defeated the Knights of Queens College, 4-0, in conference action on Tuesday at Queens. Bridgeport led virtually the entire game, scoring their first goal just 73 seconds into the match.
Blaise Njie used his head to score that goal off of an assist from Henrik Karlsson. The score remained that way until there were 89 seconds left in the half when UB's Curt Sutherland put a ground cutter just inside the left goal post to increase his team's lead to 2-0.
Paulo Goncalves and Randy Jean-Baptiste added second half goals to close out the scoring on UB's 4-0 victory. Queens, who just completed a stretch of five games in 12 days, fell to 4-9 overall and 2-5 in ECC play with the loss. Bridgeport improved to 8-3-4 and 4-1-2 against conference foes.

A Joe O'Rourke goal in the 83rd minute sent Queens College down to defeat, 1-0, to C.W. Post in an East Coast Conference game played on Saturday in Flushing, The Knights' second consecutive shutout loss drops them to 4-8 overall and 2-4 in conference action. Post is now 3-9-1 and 1-5.
The game winner was a chip over Knights' goalkeeper Damian from the top of the box off of the foot of O'Rourke, who took a chip pass from James Stevenson 25 yards from the QC cage. Queens outshot C.W. Post 12 to 9 for the game with Jesus Daniel Cano and Stelios Andreou accounting for six of their shots.

A tired Knights team ran out of gas and surrendered four second half goals in a 4-0 loss to Mercy College on Wednesday in Flushing. The game was the third in five days for Queens, who won at St. Rose last Monday and lost to Dowling on Saturday. They were also forced to work overtime in the two games leading up to this stretch.
The Knights had the best chance of a scoreless first half when they were awarded a free kick in the 36th minute. However, Johnny Osorio's shot hit the crossbar, caromed straight down, and was cleared by Mercy goalkeeper Carl Spense.
Mercy drew first blood when Nizar Chahbani's corner kick was headed past Queens goalie Damian Skiba by Earl Pommills at the 49:01 mark for the eventual game winner. Chahbani followed with two goals of his own, the first of which came two minutes later off of an assist from his goalkeeper. Raldino Powell closed out the scoring in the 84th minute for a 4-0 Mercy victory.
With the victory, Mercy improves to 6-2-2 overall and 4-1 in ECC play while Queens falls to 4-7 and 2-3.

Alberto Tortosa and Stelios Andreou each scored as the Knights defeated the College of St. Rose, 2-0, in Albany on Columbus Day.The win was the third in five games for QC, who are now 4-6 in 2007.
Tortosa gave the Knights a 1-0 lead 11:15 into the game when his shot from 35 yards out found the top left corner of the net. The unassisted goal was Tortosa's third of the season. Andreou provided breathing room for Queens when he took a through ball from Daniel Jesus Cano, broke in alone, and scored at the 65:35 mark.
Damian Skiba picked up the shutout win for QC, his second of the season, by making three saves. St. Rose has now lost 11 of 12.

Alper Yilmaz scored the Knights' lone goal in their 3-1 loss to defending NCAA Champion Dowling College on an unseasonbly warm Saturday afternoon in Flushing. With the loss Queens drops to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in ECC play while Dowling improves to 9-2-1 and 4-0-1.
Dowling took an early lead when Lamine Traore picked up the rebound of a Junior Laurencin shot and put it behind Queens goalkeeper Damian Skiba in the sixth minute. The roles were reversed 12 minutes later when a Traore cross turned into a Laurencin goal, giving Dowling a 2-0 lead that they would carry into the second half.
Marcus Cole gave the visitors an insurance goal in the 50th minute when he headed one in to put Dowling up by three. Yilmaz then made DC sweat a bit when he blasted one in from 40 yards out to cut the lead to 3-1 but that's as close as Queens would get.
Damian Skiba made 10 saves for the Knights in a losing effort.

Stelios Andreou scored the golden goal that gave the Knights a 2-1 overtime win over Concordia College in a conference match played in Bronxville on Tuesday. The win lifts Queens to 3-5 overall and 2-1 in ECC play while dropping Concordia to 4-8 and 1-3.
Concordia took an early 1-0 lead on a goal from Ulyses Salceda at the 7:53 mark. The score remained that way for nearly 80 minutes until Francisco Patino knotted the game with a goal with just under three minutes left, sending the Knights into overtime for the second consecutive game.

Alberto Tortosa scored twice but St. Thomas Aquinas College defeated Queens, 3-2, in overtime on Saturday in Thiells, New York. John Lumsden's golden goal off of an indirect free kick was the difference in this East Coast Conference match-up. The loss drops Queens to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Tortosa's first goal at 14:42 was also the game's first goal. The Knights made that goal stand up until the start of the second half when STAC tied it up on a goal from Gerald Jones three minutes into the second stanza. STAC took a 2-1 lead five minutes later on a marker by Steve O'Campo but Tortosa tied it up in the 74th minute with his second of the match.
Damian Skiba, making his fifth straight start in goal for QC, made nine saves and saw his record drop to 2-3 on the season.

Queens made an early goal from Mikel Gjoni hold up in a 1-0 win over Molloy College in ECC action on Wednesday in Flushing. With the win the Knights improved to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play while Molloy dropped to 6-2 and 1-1.
Gjoni took a pass from Alberto Tortosa and placed a left footer from the top of the box behind Molloy goalkeeper Russ Francome at 21:59 for the game's only goal. Molloy's best chance of the game came six minutes later when an attempt from Michael Topel hit the crossbar.
Damian Skiba made three saves for Queens in earning his first shutout of the season. Francome had nine saves for Molloy in a losing effort.

The Knights dropped a 2-0 decision to Chestnut Hill College in Flushing on Wednesday despite outshooting their opponents 31-5. The Knights, losers of three straight, fall to 1-4 on the season while Chestnut Hill improves to 3-0.
With Queens controlling play, Alexander Waters of Chestnut Hill took a pass from Jeff Lewin and scored on his squad's first shot of the match to take a 1-0 lead at the 20:24 mark. Less than 15 minutes later he headed in corner kick from Marko Tomljanovic to make the score 2-0.
Queens had a golden opportunity to get into the scoring column when Johnny Osorio was awarded a penalty kick after a hand ball in the box at 57:27. However, his attempt was turned aside by goalkeeper Duhan Malali, one of his 15 saves on the day, and Chestnut hill went on to win, 2-0.

Bentley College blanked Queens College, 7-0, in a non-conference match played in Waltham, Massachussets on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Knights to 1-3 while Bentley improves to 1-3-1 on the 2007 season.
Mike Crepeanu scored on a breakaway to give Bentley a 1-0 lead 12:23 into the match. Jimmy Alexander followed with another Bentley goal just 2:11 later and the home team was well on its way to victory. Bentley out shot Queens 11-8 in the first half and 20-12 for the game.

Fabian Palomino scored twice and Jesus Daniel Cano added a marker and a helper to propel the Knights to a 3-1 win at Felician College on Wednesday. The win was the first in the collegiate ranks for head coach Joseph Misso.
A drop pass from Alberto Tortosa to Palomino resulted in the game's first goal at the 24:15 mark. Cano then added a goal on a breakaway just a minute and 13 seconds later to put QC ahead 2-0.
After Palomino scored his second of the game off of an assist from Cano 2:50 into the second half the Knights found themselves ahead 3-0. Goalkeeper Damian Skiba's shutout bid was spoiled with 17 minutes remaining when Felician's Godlove Takyi tickled the twine.

The Knights opened their 2007 home schedule by dropping a 3-1 decision to Stonehill College on Tuesday in Flushing. Stonehill broke a 1-1 tie with goals in the 62nd and 68th minutes to win their season opener.
Jesus Daniel Cano had the fans on their feet when he deflected a shot past Stonehill's Brian Guerrini 3:51 into the game to put Queens up 1-0. Dave Pohl of Stonehill scored on a header, his first of two on the day, just ten minutes later to knot the score at 1.
The score remained that way until Pohl chipped one over the head of Knights' goalkeeper Brian Brabazon 17 minutes into the second half to put Stonehill up for good. Kevin Halloran provided insurance when added a marker six minutes later. Queens had an a chance to get right back in the match in the 78th minute but Stelios Andreou was robbed on a penalty kick by Guerrini.
Queens outshot Stonehill 22 -19 while each team was credited with 10 saves.

Assumption College used four first half goals to defeat the Knights, 5-0, in Worcester, Massachussets, in the 2007 season opener for Queens. The match marked the Knights' return men's collegiate soccer after an absence of more than a decade.
Austin Prete opened the scoring by depositing a rebound from a corner kick past Brian Brabazon 5:01 into the game to give Assumption an early lead. Paul Murphy made it 2-0 in the 20th minute after which Stephen Blaisdell and Nichola Fabrizi scored 4:42 apart to put Assumption up 4-0 after 40 minutes of play.
Terrence Ahoua led the Knights with three shots on goal. Stelios Andreou, Johnny Osorio and Alper Yimaz all had two shots on goal for Queens in the loss.

Queens College Director of Athletics Dr. Richard Wettan announced that Joseph Misso has been named Men’s Soccer Head Coach. Misso, 61, has served as an assistant to Women’s Soccer Coach Roby Young since that program’s inception in 1999.
A native of Tunis, Tunisia, Misso began his coaching career shortly after his arrival in New York in February of 1961. He began by coaching CYO soccer in 1962 before moving on to junior and senior teams, mostly in New York and on Long Island. One of these teams was the Long Island Select youth team of the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League. Joe has also participated extensively in national and international tournaments.
In his days on the field, Misso played junior and senior semi-pro soccer in the old German American League and was a member of the 1965 German Americans who went on to win the US Open Challenge Cup.
