The 2007 East Coast Conference Champion Queens College Lady Knights Tennis team is nationally ranked. The team placed 40th in the nation in the ITA Division II Women's Tennis Rankings in a poll released on April 3rd.
The Lady Knights are 10-0 against Division II opponents for the 2007-2008 season and have earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Championships on the basis of winning the East Coast Conference Championships. QC is currently ranked 3rd in the East Region, behind only California, Pa. and Slippery Rock. Freshman Laura Mocodeanu is also ranked 12th in the region in singles.

The Lady Knights kicked off their 2008 spring schedule by losing to Division I FDU-Teaneck, 5-2, in the Queens College Indoor Tennis Facility on Friday afternoon. Jen Merideth and Maria Perevezentseva provided QC with their two wins on the day.
Merideth rallied to win at fifth singles, 6-7, 6-4, 10-7 while Perevezentseva was victorious at sixth singles, 6-3, 6-1. The duo nearly pulled one out at third doubles but were edged, 8-7.

Queens College captured the East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Championship by beating Concordia College, 5-2, in Flushing on Thursday. Jess Franklin clinched it for QC with a 7-5, 6-0 win in singles action.
The victory not only gives the Lady Knights their six straight conference championship but it also earns them an automatic bid to the 2008 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships. which will be played in May of 2008.
Queens took an early 2-1 lead with wins at second and third doubles. Laura Mocodeanu and Kirby Reiss won their second doubles match 8-0 while Jen Merideth and Maria Perevezentseva combined for an 8-4 win at third doubles.
Reiss and Perevezentseva joined Franklin as winners in singles to give Queens College the championship.

Kirby Reiss defeated Eleni Speyer, 6-2 and 6-0, in fourth doubles to clinch the Lady Knights' 5-0 win over Dowling College in the East Coast Conference semifinals played on the indoor courts at Queens on Wednesday. The Lady Knights move on to the finals where they will host Concordia College on Thursday at 2:00 pm. QC beat Concordia, 7-2, back on September 29th.
QC got the ball rolling by winning all three doubles matches. The first doubles team of Alyssa Morra and Jessie Franklin squeezed by, 8-6, while the tandems of Laura Mocodeanu and Reiss and Jen Merideth and Maria Perevezentseva won by identical 8-0 scores. Perevezentseva also won at sixth singles, 6-1 and 6-1.

Fordham University defeated the Lady Knights, 6-3, on Sunday in the Bronx. The loss came a day after Queens clinched first place in the East Coast Conference. QC is still unbeaten against Division II opponents.
Jen Merideth and Maria Perevezentseva were responsible for all of QC's wins on the day. The two teamed to win at third doubles, 8-6, while Merideth posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles and Perevezentseva won 6-3, 6-0 at sixth singles.

Queens College defeated Concordia College, 7-2, to clinch the regular season title on Saturday in Flushing. Laura Mocodeanu sealed the deal with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 come from behind win at #2 singles.
The Lady Knights got off to a good start by winning at second and third doubles, 8-1 and 8-3. They then proceeded to win five of six in singles to finish an undefeated conference schedule. Jessie Franklin, Kirby Reiss, Jen Merideth and Maria Perevezentseva were the other winners at singles for Queens.

Margaret O'Campo and Olivia Glinka each earned wins in their 2007 singles debuts as the Lady Knights defeated Molloy College, 9-0, for their seventh consecutive victory. The win was also QC's third in three days.
O'Campo squeaked by at the four spot, 7-6 and 7-6, while Glinka won 6-4, 6-3 at fifth singles. Alysaa Morra, Laura Mocodeanu and Kirby Reiss also won their singles matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores. Queens is now 6-0 in conference play with only one match - against Concordia - remaining on their ECC regular season schedule.

Queens made it six for six in the fall of '07 by blanking Georgian Court University, 9-0, in Flushing on Wednesday afternoon. Jen Merideth and Laura Mocodeanu each won in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0, to help QC to a non-conference victory.
Kirby Reiss and Jessie Franklin were also outstanding as they posted 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 wins, respectively. Alyssa Morra was taken to the limit in # 1 singles, spliting two sets before winning the tiebreaker, 10-2.

Freshman Robyn Kohn teamed with Maria Perevezentseva in # 3 doubles to pick up her first win as a Lady Knight in a 8-1 win at C.W. Post on Tuesday. Queens improves to 5-0 overall as well as 5-0 in East Coast Conference play with the win.
Alyssa Morra continued to dominate at # 1 singles, winning her match in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0. Laura Mocodeanu, Jessie Franklin, Kirby Reiss and Maria Perevezentseva were also winners in singles action.

The Lady Knights continued their winning ways, defeating Adelphi University, 7-2, in Flushing on Thursday afternoon. With the victory, QC improves to 4-0 overall as well as 4-0 against East Coast Conference foes.
The pairings of Alyssa Morra / Jessie Franklin, Laura Mocedeanu / Kirby Reiss and Maria Perevezentseva / Jen Merideth got the Lady Knights off on the right foot as they swept all three doubles matches. Reiss and Merideth each posted singles wins and Morra and Mocedeanu also did their part, each winning 6-0, 6-0 at #1 and #2 singles, respectively, to help Queens remain unbeaten in the fall of 2007.

Queens improved to 3-0 with a 8-1 win at St. Thomas Aquinas College on Tuesday afternoon. Alyssa Morra and Jen Merideth each won their matches 6-0, 6-0 to help keep the Lady Knights' conference record unblemished.
Other winners in singles included Jessie Franklin (8-0 at # 3), Laura Mocedeanu (6-1, 6-1 at # 2) and Maria Perevezentseva (6-1, 6-2 at # 5). Morra and Franklin combined for a 8-0 win at first doubles while Kirby Reiss and Mocedeanu posted an 8-0 win at second doubles and Merideth and Perevezentseva won at third doubles by a score of 8-3. 9/17/07
Victories at first singles and first doubles by Alyssa Morra helped Queens to a 9-0 conference win at New Haven on Monday afternoon. Morra defeated Sarah Lefler 6-1, 6-1 at # 1 singles and combined with Jessie Franklin to win at # 1 doubles, 8-1.
Laura Mocedeanu and Jen Merideth posted identical 6-0, 6-0 wins at second and fifth singles respectively to help QC improve to 2-0 in 2007.

The Lady Knights began the defense of their East Coast Conference title on Thursday by defeating Dowling College, 9-0, in Flushing. Queens did not drop a set in successfully opening the 2007 campaign.
Alyssa Morra led the way with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the top singles spot and combined with Jessie Franklin to win at #1 doubles, 8-3. Freshmen Kirby Reiss, Laura Mocodeanu and Maria Perevezentseva all kicked off their collegiate careers with victories in singles and doubles competition.

The 2006 East Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Team Champion will be crowned on Friday, October 13, as play was suspended due to darkness in today’s match between Concordia and Queens with the score tied at 4-4 and the deciding number one singles match between the Clippers, Ananda Ferrari and the Lady Knights, Dominika Bajuk, tied at 3-3 in the third and final set. Ferrari won the first set, 7-5, and Bajuk rebounded to take the second set, 6-3. The match will resume on the campus of Concordia College at 3:00 p.m.
Queens took the early lead, as the Lady Knights won two of the three double matches, with Afiya Lahens and Jessie Franklin winning at number two, 8-4, over Concordia’s Llenka Hladikova and Ferrari after the number one (a Concordia win) and three (a Queens win) double slots were split by identical 8-4 scores.
Concordia came back to tie the match at 4-4 winning three of the five decided singles matches, as Somadi Druker won at number two (6-1, 6-4), Llenka Hladikova won at number three (6-3,
6-3) and Celise Sesanker took the point at number four (6-1, 6-1).
Queens got singles wins from Jennifer Merideth at number five (6-0, 6-1), and Andrea Condur at number six (6-1, 6-1).
This will be the second time this season that match between Concordia and Queens has been decided by a 5-4 score, as the Clippers defeated the Lady Knights during the regular season.

The Lady Knights advanced to the East Coast Conference finals by defeating Dowling College, 5-0, in the Queens College Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon. They next face the winner of the Concordia / Adelphi match in the title game, to be played on Thursday at 3:00 pm. If Concordia wins, they will play host. If Adelphi wins, the championship will be decided on the courts at Queens. After QC swept all three doubles matches, Alyssa Morra and Afiya Lahens closed out the match by winning at #2 and #3 singles respectively. The scores of Morra's match were 6-1, 6-1 while Lahens won 6-0, 6-0.

Queens College completed their regular season schedule by beating Philadelphia University, 6-3, in Flushing on Sunday. This follows an 8-1 victory over the University New Haven in their conference finale last Thursday. The Lady Knights, the second seed in the ECC Team Championships, will face the third place team on Wednesday, October 11th, in Flushing. Afiya Lahens won both her #3 singles match and her #2 doubles match in the win over Philadelphia. Alyssa Morra was also triumphant in her singles and doubles matches.

Concordia College spoiled the Lady Knights' hopes of an undefeated season by handing them a 5-4 loss in Bronxville, New York on Tuesday afternoon. Queens opened the contest by winning first and third doubles but then proceeded to lose four of six singles matches. Two-time ECC Player of the Week Dominika Bajuk won at #1 singles 6-2, 7-6 and Andrea Condur posted a 6-1,6-2 victory at the five spot for the Lady Knights two wins in singles.

The Lady Knights improved to 6-0 by beating Dowling College, 8-1, on Thursday at Stony Brook University. The win also gives them a perfect 5-0 record against East Coast Conference competition. Jen Merideth and Amy Schubert each won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 to key their team's victory.

Dominika Bajuk and Alyssa Morra both posted 6-0, 6-0 victories in their singles matches to lead Queens to an 8-1 win over Molloy College on Tuesday in Flushing. The Lady Knight pairings of Bajuk and Morra, Jen Merideth and Condur and O'Campo and Amy Schubert were winners in doubles.

Andrea Condur won 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles and Jennifer Merideth posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at fourth singles to lead QC to a 7-2 win over C.W. Post on Thursday in Flushing. The two players also combined to win 8-2 at second singles. Dominika Bajuk and Alyssa Morra also continued to pile up the wins with Bajuk beating Mel Schwartz 6-1, 6-1 at #1 singles and Morra winning 6-0, 6-1 at second singles.

The Lady Knights improve to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in East Coast Conference play. Dominika Bajuk and Alyssa Morra led the way for QC, winning their doubles match 8-0 while defeating their competition in #1 and #3 singles action, 6-0, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-1, respectively.

Jennifer Merideth, Jessie Franklin (in her Queens College debut), Andrea Condur and Olivia Glinka also were victorious in their singles matches. Bajuk and Franklin won at first doubles, Morra and Condur triumphed at second doubles and Margaret O'Campo teamed with Amy Schubert to post an 8-2 win at third doubles to complete the 9-0 team victory.

The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team defeated Queens College (NY) 5-2
on Friday morning in the second round of the NCAA East Regional Tournament at
Bloomsburg University. With the win, the Huskies advance to the NCAA Final
Sixteen in Kansas City, Missouri starting on May 9. The Huskies took a 2-1 lead after doubles play, getting an 8-5 victory from
Lindsey Wyckoff (North Canton, OH/ Hoover) and Emily Murphy (Worcester/
Methacton) at second doubles and an 8-4 win from Lauren Colfer (Philadelphia/
St. Basil Academy) and Tracy Nissenbaum (Allentown/ William Allen) at number
three doubles. Wyckoff then earned an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory at fourth singles to give
Bloomsburg a 3-1 lead. After Queens won at number one singles, Nissenbaum made
it 4-2 at sixth singles, winning in straight sets, 6-0, 7-6 (7-4). Colfer then
clinched the victory for the Huskies with a 6-3, 6-4 win at number five singles.

Queens College defeated Stonehill College 5-0 in the first round of the women's NCAA East Regional Tennis Tournament at Bloomsburg University. Queens jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Dominika Bajuk and Karen
Chang won 9-7 at number one singles to lead the Lady Knights. Chang and Alyssa Morra
then got victories at number two and number three singles respectively to clinch
the victory. Queens will take on Bloomsburg University on Friday at 9 a.m. Bloomsburg defeated the University of Sciences in
Philadelphia 5-0 to advance to the finals. Singles Doubles
