A Word from the Director:

Africana Studies is an interdisciplinary program offering courses leading to a major or a minor in Africana Studies. It provides knowledge of the civilization, history, literature, culture and institutions of the peoples of Africa, as well as the people of African descent in the Caribbean and the Americas. Africana Studies welcomes all students who have either a cultural or a professional interest in the African, African Caribbean, or African American experience. The program is also of interest to students who seek to understand a culture other than their own.
