FUNCTIONAL RESUME
Qualifications and marketable skills gained through employment are highlighted in the functional resume. This format is best used by those who have had minimal job experience, but do have skills and accomplishments that can be highlighted and related to a new job situation. A functional resume can camouflage breaks or gaps in employment, but some employers become suspicious when employment history is not shown in a time sequence. This format also:

Allows you to group your experiences in skills categories that emphasize your strengths.

Minimizes job titles and employment chronology.

Provides greater flexibility in presenting skills gained through personal experiences.

Some examples of functional skills:
Administration Bookkeeping Communication Computer Programming
Computer Software Analyst Consulting Coordination
Counseling Customer Relations Editing Evaluation
Foreign Language Leadership Management Negotiation
Organization Planning Problem Solving Program Development
