(Submission #47)
Music appreciation provides students with a basic knowledge of the elements of music and specific listening skills which can be applied to music of all genres. Students explore this through examples of masterpieces of music from the Western European literature, non-European examples and music of the United States. Musical examples are placed in historical, political, religious and cultural context through readings, exploration of related arts and class discussions.
