Sample Proposals

No sample proposals are available, but archives of approved courses are available here.
The procedure for proposing a course is described here.

For assistance in course planning, consult:

UCC Report, Proposal 2: Area Requirements.

This document includes descriptions of Areas of Knowledge and Inquiry, Contexts of Experience, and Extended Requirements, as well as of the PLAS criteria.

Be sure your proposal clarifies how students will be made aware of the contributions of a given PLAS course to their liberal arts education. This could be accomplished by the following means:

  1. Remarks in course syllabi stating how the course meets particular PLAS goals;
  2. A brief account of the PLAS goals of the course in the description of the course available to students;
  3. Notes on assignments indicating how they meet particular PLAS goals.
