Susan Einhorn
Susan Einhorn most recently directed two of THE FUNERAL PLAYS at the HB Playwrights Theatre. Last season she directed the world premiere of the musical SUBWAY SUITE by Julie Mandel, scored for a string quartet. She has directed 50 productions in her 20 year career, the heart of which has been about nurturing new American plays and musicals.
New playwrights, composers and lyricists she has collaborated with include: Leah Friedman, Elizabeth Page, Barbara Schottenfield, Stephen Hoffman, Mark Campbell, Janet Reed, Susan Sandler, Billy Aronson, Janet Neipris, Charles Henrich, Regina Corrado, Susan Nanus, Kim Merrill and Dennis Andersen.
New York theatres: Promenade, Westside Arts, Circle in the Square, Primary Stages, Playwrights Horizons, Vineyard, American Jewish Theatre, La Mama, Jewish Rep, Open Space, Ubu Rep, among others. Regional theatres include: Pittsburgh Public, Syracuse Stage, StudioTheatre, Arena Stage, Milwaukee Rep, and the Whole Theatre.
She has also directed the works of Shakespeare, Chekhov, Strindberg, Schnitzler, Wedekind, Wilder, Lindsay&Crouse, Friel, Pinter, Osborne, Koltes, Gurney and Albee. She is proud to be Director of the Acting Program and a Professor of Theatre at Queens College and on the Executive Board of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers (SSDC). She is newly appointed to the Lucille Lortel Award Committee.
