Portal Problems

I'm sure I don't have a Portal ID

I think I have a Portal ID, but don't remember it...

Go to www.cuny.edu, and click on "log in" at the bottom left.
Click on "Register". You will be asked for your last name, Social Security Number, and date of birth. Assuming this information has been made available by Queens College to CUNY, you should either be given a Portal ID (because you didn't actually have one, in which case you should follow the instructions for getting your password) or it will tell you you already have one. It will not, however, tell you what it is. In this case, you should email Ken Lord , giving your first and last name, and he will email you your Portal ID. Then see below regarding getting your password. If you get the error: "One or more fields below did not exactly match the data we have in our records. Please try again." Then see "the system does not recognize me" below.

There is a "forgot password" link on the "log in" page for the Portal. Note that this feature will send your password to you by email.

Faculty email addresses come from CUPS which is managed by QC's Human Resources Office. If your email address is not correct according to the records at QC's Office of Human Resources, you must correct it there. Most faculty email addresses at the portal are of the generic form FIRSTNAME_LASTNAME@QC.EDU. If you are not sure where this address actually sends email (for example, to your Forbin account, or your Hotmail account), check with the help desk at OCT (help@qc.edu or x4444).

Student email addresses come from QUASAR. Students may now change their official email address in QUASAR by using the eSIMS link on the QC Web Page.

I tried to get a Portal ID, but the system doesn't find me...

All information for Portal verification is supplied to CUNY Central by Queens College. It comes from the City University Personnel System (CUPS). If you are a long-standing full-time faculty member, you should definitely be in CUPS. If you are a newly-hired faculty member, or an adjunct that has only been recently hired, it is possible you are not in CUPS. You should get a timetable from your department chair to see when your paperwork will be sent to Human Resources (HR), or contact HR directly to see how quickly you can be put in CUPS.
