Student Email Addresses...

Student email addresses are fed nightly into Bb from SIMS. If a student has activated his or her email address at at cams.qc.cuny.edu, the email address in Bb will be the student's Lotus Notes address (official college email address). Students MUST activate their Lotus Notes email as all important College communication (bills, grades) will be sent only to that address. Should students wish Lotus Notes to forward email to a difference email address, instructions for setting that up are on the main Educational Technology page, www.qc.cuny.edu/edtech.

Faculty Email Addresses...

Faculty email addresses are fed nightly into Bb from CUPS. CUPS has been loaded with faculty members' Lotus Notes email addresses. Faculty MUST activate their Lotus Notes email addresses at cams.qc.cuny.edu Should faculty wish Lotus Notes to forward email to a difference email address, instructions for setting that up are on the main Educational Technology page, www.qc.cuny.edu/edtech.

When the Portal is down...

When the portal is down, a separate page should appear with a link to the "doorway" at which you can enter your portal ID and password and get to Blackboard. If this page does not appear, the URL for the doorway is blackboard-doorway.cuny.edu and you can try going there directly.

When Students Don't Know Their Portal ID...

Students may be given portal IDs by UPAC (CUNY Admissions). However, the students may not have been told what that ID is, and an attempt to register at the portal for an ID simply yields the message that you already have one. In this case, the OCT help desk can determine what the student's portal ID is.

Students Don't Know Their Password...

The "Forgot Password" link at the portal login page will have a new password emailed to the student (see "Email Addresses" above). If the student's email address is out of date or non-existent in the portal's LDAP, the student will not receive their passwords. The help desk at OCT should be of assistance.

What Should Faculty Tell the Students About Email?...

Tell the students to go to cams.qc.cuny.edu and activat their official QC Lotus Notes email addresses.

Graduate Center PhD Students In Queens College Classes...

Some of you have noticed that students who are enrolled in courses at the Graduate Center but who are taking courses given at Queens College are not able to access your Blackboard courses. This is because the Graduate Center registration system enrolls these students into the Grad Center courses, and tells the portal to authenticate the students to the GC, not QC. If you want your students from the GC to be able to access your QC Bb course, they need to be put in the LDAP and enrolled in your course. Please contact Ken Lord to arrange this.
