Heather Hendershot
( Media Studies ) hshot@earthlink.net A double major in French and Film Studies at Yale University , and she earned her Ph.D. at the University of Rochester . She is an Associate Professor in the Media Studies department at Queens , and she is also a member of the Film Studies Certificate Program doctoral faculty at the CUNY Graduate Center . Hendershot's classes include "Silent Film;" "Animation History and Aesthetics;" "The Horror Film," and "The American Film Industry." She is the author of Saturday Morning Censors: Television Regulation before the V-Chip (Duke University Press, 1998) and Shaking the World for Jesus: Media and Conservative Evangelical Culture ( University of Chicago Press , 2004); she has also edited Nickelodeon Nation: The History, Politics and Economics of America 's Only Channel for Kids (New York University Press, 2004).
