Course Content: The class consists of activities related to the composition programs at the Aaron Copland School of Music. Mainly, there will be lectures by composers about their music. There may be some lectures by performers on writing music for their instruments. Most of these people will not be from the School of Music, although some will. There will also be three concerts of music by composers in the program.
Course work: There is no course work other than attendance in the classes. Students are graded on their compositions in the composition courses, the Composition Seminar or Techniques of Composition.
Grading criteria: Students will be graded on their participation in the course. Since it is impossible to participate without attending, attendance, both absence and lateness, will count towards the grade.
