Performing Bach in Baroque Style:
For Players of Modern Instruments
June 26 - July 2, 2011
An intensive week-long workshop in the principles of baroque style and performance practices and how they can be adapted to modern instruments. (Singers are also welcome to apply.) A special focus will be daily classes in baroque dance. The core faculty–Raymond Erickson (Director, keyboards, and Bach specialist), Janet Packer (violin), Dorothy Olsson (baroque dancer/dance historian), Sally Sanford (voice), and Sandra Miller (flutewill)–offer lectures, joint and individual master classes, as well as private and ensemble coachings and will be available on a full-time basis. They will be supplemented by visiting experts in performance areas outside those of the core faculty but represented in the participants. The week will end with a concert by participants. Dormitory facilities are available.
This program is specifically intended for professionals and advanced students without specialized training in historical performance practices.
