Sunday, November 13

 

7:30 – 9:00          Opening Dinner 

                        Beachwood Hotel

 

                        Residency participants will have an informal dinner with Donna Rodrigues, UPCS Founding Principal & JFF Program Director, who will be leading the residency.

 

Monday, November 14

 

7:00 - 7:45          Pre-round discussion with humanities teachers
University Park Campus School

                             

                              June Eressy, UPCS Principal & Founding 7th and 8th grade English teacher
James McDermott, English, grades 10-12

                              Ricci Hall, High School Social Studies

                              Peter Wyler, English, grades 7 and 9

 

                              UPCS Faculty will give an overview of the humanities curriculum at and preview the lessons that residency participants will observe this morning.  (Coffee and bagels will be provided.)

 

8:00 – 11:00        Classroom Observations

                              University Park Campus School

11:00 – 12:00    Reflection Time

                              TV Studio, UPCS

Residency participants will use this loose structure time reflect on and react to the morning’s observations through writing or discussion.

 

12:00 – 1:00      Lunch with Students

                              Clark University Cafeteria

Residency participants will have lunch with UPCS students to gather their candid reactions to the school.

 

1:00 – 3:00          School Leadership Workshop

                           Steinbracher Room, University Center, Clark University

     
Discuss framing questions in light of the evidence observed during the morning observations at the school.

                       

3:00 - 4:00          Post-round discussion with humanities teachers

                              Residency participants can use this time to work on planning efforts based on what they have learned during the day.  Donna Rodrigues will be available for questions and consultation.

 

 


Tuesday, November 14

 

7:00 - 7:45          Pre-round discussion with math & science teachers
University Park Campus School

                             

                              Jody Bird, Biology & Geometry

                              Leah Penniman, Chemistry, Environmental Science & Statistics

                              Kate Shepard, Math, grades 7 & 8       

 

                              UPCS Faculty will give an overview of the math and science curriculum at and preview the lessons that residency participants will observe this morning.  (Coffee and bagels will be provided.)

 

8:00 - 9:30          Leadership Training

                              Hiatt Center for Urban Education, Jonas Clark Hall, Clark University

                             

                              Discuss organizational implications of a school model similar to the one at UPCS.

 

9:30 – 11:30        Classroom Observations

                              University Park Campus School
