Evangelos John Gizis, Provost and Senior Vice President for
Academic Affairs, served, prior to his appointment at Queens College, as
Interim President of Hunter College, where he previously served as Interim
Provost and Interim Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and as Vice
President for Administration. Prior to his service at Hunter, he was Vice
President for College Affairs, Planning, and Information Systems at Queens
College; Acting President, Vice President for Administration, and Deputy to the
President at Borough of Manhattan Community College; and Acting President at
Hostos Community College. He has also held appointments as a researcher at Long
Island Jewish Hospital, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Mellon Institute of
Carnegie Mellon University, and Michigan State University
Dr. Gizis studied Chemistry at the University of Athens and
received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Food Science and Biochemistry from Oregon State
University. He has published articles in scientific journals on Vitamin B12
binders in blood and milk.
