Academic and Professional Support at Queens College
Office of Career Development and Internships
The Office of Career Development and Internships provides
a range of services for students at all levels of their educational
careers. The Career Development center gives workshops on
resume writing and interviewing, and assists students in locating
employment opportunities and internship placements. Recent
students, for example, have received internship placements
at companies such as ABC, UBS Financial Services and Bear
Sterns, to name just a few. In addition, the Career Development
provides an on-campus recruitment program for seniors, bringing
to campus both local and national employers. The working relationship
with the office continues following graduation through the
office’s alumni services. Pre-Professional Programs
If you are thinking about a career in medicine or the law
Queens College’s pre-professional programs prepare you
to be the sort of student the best professional schools are
seeking.

Law
Preparation for the study of law should be wide and varied,
including the social sciences, the humanities and the technological
aspects of contemporary life. Queens College provides special
advisement to prospective law students through the Law Advisement
Committee, which assists students with curricular choices
and LSAT preparation. The Committee also brings to campus
individuals well-connected with the legal field – including
law school admissions officers, practicing attorneys and professionals
in the legal support field. The College also provides opportunities
for prospective law students to participate in unique undergraduate
programs including Moot Court competitions and publication
of a law journal, sponsored by the Bench and Bar Association
and the Law Club.
Medicine and Dentistry
Queens College offers special support for students intending
to pursue advanced degrees in medicine or dentistry. The Office
of Health Professions at Queens College assists students with
academic and career planning and provides guidance to students
when applying to professional schools. Health Professions
advisers also prepare the evaluation letters required by medical
and dental schools.
