Dr. Jennifer Eddy (Ph.D. Columbia University, Teachers College, 1999) A specialist in World Language/Multilingual Education with an emphasis on methodology, curriculum design, and performance assessment, Dr. Eddy teaches undergraduate and graduate courses as well as directs workshops, and seminars for pre, in-service teachers, educational leadership, and post secondary faculty. She has designed and implemented performance based world language curricula for both schools and colleges and has served as Language Program Coordinator and department chair for many languages, including Chinese, Arabic, and ESL. Dr. Eddy has also taught Spanish and ESL at all levels of instruction.
Dr. Eddy trains teacher candidates and practicing teachers in development of language curricula and standards-based performance assessment using Backward Design, rethinking the foreign language standards and their implications for instruction and assessment with the innovative unit planning model and conceptual framework, UC ADAPT. Recently she wrote and recorded five television broadcasts on performance assessment and wrote accompanying publications for the educational television network of the Department of Education of South Carolina.
Dr. Eddy has published articles on the arts and language learning, intercultural adaptability of teacher candidates, performance assessment, and her language curriculum design model, UC ADAPT. She has presented at local, regional, and national conferences on foreign language education for 20 years. Dr. Eddy is editor of the peer reviewed Journal of the New York State Association of Foreign Language Teachers and is the Assessment committee chair. She is featured author in world languages for Big Ideas, the online journal of Understanding by Design. Dr. Eddy is Vice President of the National Association of District Supervisors of Foreign Languages.

RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr. Eddy’s research interests are the arts and world language learning, cultural perspective driven curricula, and performance assessment design models. Dr. Eddy is designer and author of UC ADAPT (Uncovering Content: Assessment, Design, Alignment, Performance, Transfer), a standards-based curriculum model for world languages using a unique interpretation of backward design.
