Biography

Ph.D. Sociology and Education, Columbia University. Lillian Moncada-Davidson also holds a degree in community psychology from New York University. Joined the Queens College faculty in 1988.  Founder and president of the Hilda Rothschild Foundation in El Salvador, a non government organization promoting local development through education among women and children in poverty. International consultant in education; frequent speaker at international conferences, advocate for Montessori education, critical pedagogy for social change, and education for social justice.


Research interests

•The impact of globalization on education developments in El Salvador.
•Mass migration to the United States and its effects on  Salvadoran society
•The socio-cultural adaptation of  Latin American students in the United States.

Work in progress

Directing Hilda Rothschild Foundation programs.  Foundation sponsors a community development program at Joya Grande (Santiago Texacuangos),  El Salvador.  Responsible for the design and implementation of a development model in a community of 2000 people. This includes a Montessori education program, health program, the HIPPY program (Home instruction for parents of pre-school youngsters), LAMP program, (Literacy and Mathematics through Photography) to El Salvador, and various economic activities leading to self sustainability.
