Biography

Carole S. Rhodes holds a Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning from the Steinhardt School of Education at New York University. Her areas of expertise are literacy, research and technology integration.

She teaches graduate courses dealing with reading and writing, children’s literature, technology and research. Carole has received a number of awards and grants for her work which emphasizes staff development and university-school collaborations. She is the author of dozens of publications and is a Senior Research Associate with the Equity Studies Research Center.

In addition to her work at the College, Carole is a consultant to many school districts where she works with administrators, teachers, children and their families to design curriculum and to implement strategies for learning. She is sought out as a speaker for teacher as well as parent groups who note that her talks are "reality based, humorous and highly informative." In all her work she brings a real world perspective based on her years of experience as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, researcher and parent.  Carole’s most recent books are “Born to Learn: Developing a child’s Reading and Writing” and “A Leg Up: Enhancing Reading and Writing.”
