Italian Cinema for Florence

June 25 to July 6

In this course we will examine a sampling of major Italian films. We will consider their place in film and political history as well as some of the ways in which the movies to be screened use such elements as narrative structure, camerawork, and music. The course will focus primarily on directors such as Fellini, Antonioni, and Bertolucci. An analytical paper of a film seen outside of class will be required. All course work will be done in English.
