The Student Life Office is the heart of the campus co-curricular program.

The goal of the Student Life Office is to create and support co-curricular opportunities for students. This is accomplished through a series of programs, including those that are social, educational, and recreational in nature, as well as through structured leadership development workshops, and small group and individualadvisement.

Leadership Development Programs

The Leadership Retreat provides students with the opportunity to learn and develop various leadership and team development skills. Some of these tasks and role-playing exercises will include communication skills, interactive tasks among various personalities and how to work as a team by identifying a leader and the team players. These retreats take place during the months of October and January.

The Success and Leadership Series is a complete speaker series and leadership program, coordinated in conjunction with the Society of Success and Leadership. Through a video presentation and small group discussions, students are encouraged to grasp the concepts of effective leadership.

Officers Workshops are scheduled throughout the semesters for student organization officers. These workshops are created to assist student officers in the day-to-day maintenance of leading a student group.

The Leadership Series includes topics such as: “Resume Writing”, “Debit Counseling”, “Take the Fear Out of Writing” and “Better Grades In Less Time”. These workshops are scheduled to assist students in their quest for success.

Role Model Program sponsored by New York Coalition of 100 Black Women

The New York Coalition of 100 Black Women has mentored over 700 young women for more than fifteen years. This program gives young women of color at Queens College the opportunity to shadow a professional woman in the students’ potential career choice.

“Small World Series” is a program for the children of Queens College students that offers student/parents the opportunity to bond and share their college experience with their children during the weekend.
