The focus of this project is to begin to develop a video oral history of Queens College. In this pilot, we will interview many people in order to help document aspects of student life at Queens College throughout the College’s history. Examples include academics, sports, faculty, social life, issues of the day, student activism, and educational / office technology.
A broad-based committee of campus faculty and staff, in conjunction with the QC Archives and the Office of Information Technology (OCT), will inaugurate this oral history project PILOT with members of your 50th anniversary class, the Class of 1953, as part of the May 29th Commencement 2003 activities. To volunteer to be interviewed on videotape on that day as part of this project, please complete and return this sheet by May 10th. We will try to contact those who return forms by that date prior to May 29th to discuss the process further (including required releases) and to schedule an appointment time. Appointments will be scheduled in 1-hour blocks. We hope to do all of these interviews on May 29th, but may have to arrange another time for some if there are more volunteers than we can accommodate.
The interviews will be held on May 29th in private rooms in the Student Union between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, immediately following Commencement. Lunch and an opportunity to spend more time informally with your classmates will be provided for all returning members of the Class of 1953 in other rooms in the Student Union during that time.
Please bring any pictures, documents or other small items from your time at Queens College that you would like to talk about at your interview, as well as any such items (or copies) you would be willing to donate to enhance this project.
