Worldchanging Project Guide

Introduction:

Students will work as a group to complete a “Worldchanging Project.” The final project will be burned on a CD and also uploaded to a web site. The goal of this project is to demonstrate how Information Technology can be used to make a positive difference in our world. All projects will use Web 2.0 applications such as blogs, wiki's, web sites, social networking tools, or Google applications, e.g. Google Groups, Google Earth. Examples of possible project topics:

Procedure:

  1.    Form teams: Post names of team members on forum in Science Moodle
  2.    Brainstorming (individual and then team): Post results on forum. Use the safe search tools.
  3.    Pick a topic: Browse through the list of possible project topics. Pick a topic and explore related links and do quick google search. Post your topic in the forum. Post at least three possible names for your projects. Very important: Once you have your topic, focus and narrow it down as much as you can.
  4.    Choose products: Your mission is to help people to learn about your topic so that they can take actions to make a positive difference. Be creative and use a variety of techniques. Pick one or more items from the possible project products list.
  5.    Choose technology tools: Look at the list of technology tools and choose the one you think you might need to use. Consult with the teacher for help if you aren't sure.

  8. Go through the help and tour for wikispaces
  9.    Submit your final project by posting it on worldchangingprojects.wikispaces.org. Also post a link to your project on the forum
