This talk will present the phonology and phonetics of prosody and the factors influencing prosodic phrasing, particularly the syntax-prosody interface, based on data from several languages. For Korean data, the interaction among three factors affecting prosodic phrasing (syntax, focus, speech rate) will be reported. Preliminary results show that the syntactic factor is more influential than the focus factor in determining prosodic phrasing, though the ranking is weakened by the speech rate factor.
