These
pages are designed to guide instructors through some basic---as well as some
advanced---classroom uses of PowerPoint, Microsoft's presentation software. They are
based on the materials presented in the a series on workshops on the use of this
presentation software. These Queens College workshops are offered to promote the use of technology in language classrooms,
but are general to apply to any discipline.
(For more information on studying and teaching languages, visit the
Queens LOTE
Consortium website. For more information on teaching with technology
at Queens College, visit the website of the
Assistant to the Provost for
Educational Technology.)
Integrating multimedia materials into a classroom or lecture hall has become quite simple with the advent of digital technology. Using a data projector and a computer (assuming that the necessary materials are available in digital format) it is possible to bring students closer to the material discussed in class, while at the same time minimizing the variety of hardware that might otherwise be needed. PowerPoint (and other similar presentation software) simplify these tasks. In the tutorial pages you will find discussion of the topics covered in the PowerPoint Workshops. Sample files and links of interest are found in the samples & links page. Dates for upcoming workshops are listed on the dates page. |
