QC Linguistic Landscape Project

As part of LCD 205: Introduction to Sociolinguistics in Fall 2009, students teams produced a Linguistic Landscape of various neighborhoods and locations in New York City and Nassau County including Astoria, Brighton Beach, Chelsea, a comparison of Corona and East Harlem, Elmhurst, Flushing, Williamsburg, Freeport, Hempstead, Penn Station, and a public middle school.

These Linguistic Landscapes are the most substantial examples of this form of research in this complex multilingual metropolitan area.
