Course Description: This is the third semester in a two year sequence (157, 158, 207, 208) that will cover elementary and advanced calculus. This semester will focus on linear algebra and differential equations. This is a 5 credit course.

Textbook: The following texts are required for this course:

Calculus, Vol I, 2nd Edition by Tom M. Apostol.
Calculus, Vol II, 2nd Edition by Tom M. Apostol.

We will cover approximately chapters 12-14 in volume I and chapters 1-6 of volume II. Volume II is available for purchase at the college bookstore. If you do not already hae Volume I please see me.

Homework: Homework assigments are posted here and are due at the begining of lecture. I will grade the assignments and return them the following week.
Completing the homework is a fundamental part of the course. I suggest you make sure you can (or could) solve all of the relevant problems in the text. It is in this sense that homework has the greatest impact on your grade (not the 16% mentioned below).
It is often a good idea to work with others in the class. However, since homework earns credit, it is understood that everyone submitting particular problems has solved them individually.
I will not accept late written assignments, but I will help you understand any of the problems that they cover (i.e. homework does not become unimportant after the due date).

Grading - The final grade for this course will be computed from your exam scores and homework, weighted as follows:

Homework16%
Exam #117%
Exam #218%
Exam #319%
Final exam30%

Students with Disabilities: If you have a physical, psychiatric, medical, or learning disability that could adversely affect your performance in this course, you are encouraged to contact the Office of Special Services (ODS) at 718-997-5870. They will review your situation and determine, with you, what accommodations are necessary and appropriate. All information and documentation regarding disabilities will be treated as strictly confidential.
