Welcome to the course!

Goal:

This is the third introductory course in the Modern Japanese language. You should have successfully finished the first two Japanese courses or have talked to me about your knowledge or previous experiences with Japanese. In this course, students will continue with handouts based on なかま2(the first edition, not required). Students will study several hundred Chinese characters. Details of lesson plans, assignments, quizzes, and exams will be announced on the course website. Therefore, students are required to check the website frequently. The computer lab in King 203 is available to all the students of the Japanese courses. Assignment due dates must be strictly followed. There will be penalties for late assignments.

Grading:

(30% final exam) + (20% mid-term) + (15% participation and attendance) + (20% assignments) + (15% quizzes/homework) - If you get an F in more than two of the above, you will not pass the course. *Being late more than 30 minutes will be considered as absent.

Assignments & Homework

Homework and assignments (4 writing assignments) are assigned and announced in the class or on this webpage. The wrting assignment drafts always must be hand-written. A digital version is never accepted for this course. A digital submission of a scanned pdf copy is not accepted until you are instructed to do so.
