Collections

The purpose of the Media Collection is to support Bronx Community College instruction and research. Opened in January 1974, the initial concentration was on classic, documentary, and performing arts films. The collection consists primarily of films that are course-related, documentary, current and historical events as well as feature films in VHS/DVD format.

There is also a small collection of print titles that have a media component to the text that are housed in the Center for student use related to specific courses such as CMS, Music, Art, Math and Modern languages, just to name a few. All titles in the collection are cataloged in CUNY+, the Libraries' online catalog for the City University of New York Libraries.

Hard copies are listed on the Program Board which contains 139 media lists related to specific courses. Electronic copies are located on the library homepage at: http://bcc-libweb.bcc.cuny.edu/mediagraphy.html where copies can be printed. We welcome inquiries and suggestions about media resources. All items are non-circulating .

Personal Copies

Instructors can place personal copies of commercially acquired video recordings and DVDs on Reserve in the Learning Resources Center for a semester. The maximum number of copies per title is five. The titles should be picked up at the end of the semester. Personal copies will be identified as non-circulating or in library use only.
