MATH 202 Text and Resources

MATH 202 Text and Resources

The text used for part of our course is
James Stewart, Essential Calculus, 2nd edition, Cengage Learning, 2012.

Note, however, that the lectures will be supplemented with additional material not from this book.

You do not need to purchase a hard copy of this book, as a subscription to WebAssign (course requirement) will give you access to an electronic version of the text. This year QC has received discounted pricing for WebAssign+ebook, which will be $87 for a single-term access. To learn how to use the discounted price, check the following link:

Textbook + WebAssign

If you are taking other courses this semester that also use WebAssign, a better option may be to get a 4 month subscription to "Cengage Unlimited" which gives you unlimited access to the publisher's entire library of textbooks as well as WebAssign. If you already have a subscription to Cengage Unlimited for your other courses, you won't need to pay a separate fee for this course.

Here are a few other optional resources that you can use for additional insights or problems:
    J. E. Marsden and A. J. Tromba, Vector Calculus, 6th edition, W. H. Freeman and Company, 2013.
    T. M. Apostol, Calculus, vol. 2, 2nd edition, John Wiley & Sons, 1969.
Finally, MIT OpenCourseWare project has a video lecture series in multivariable calculus which you may find useful (relevant material start roughly with lecture 18, but it'd be a good idea to watch the beginning lectures in your spare time as a review for Math 201):
