All candidates for a baccalaureate degree must complete the College's Liberal Arts and Science (LASAR) requirements. These include:
Humanities I: 2 courses in the area of literature and literary criticism.
Humanities II: 1 course that stresses appreciation and/or participation in the areas of art, music or theatre.
Humanities III: 1 course involving the study of language, culture or aesthetics.
Physical and Biological Sciences: 2 courses, one with a participatory laboratory component, stressing the scientific method.
Scientific Methodology and Quantitative Reasoning: 1 course in college-level mathematics, computer science, data analysis, statistics, scientific methodology or logic.
Social Sciences:2 courses from different departments, dealing with historical change, the economy, government, decision-making, community structure, and organization.
Pre-Industrial/Non-Western Civilization: 1 course devoted to the study of Pre-Industrial and/or Non-Western Civilization.
The specific LASAR requirements vary somewhat for B.Mus. students. All students should consult with the School of Music re the specific LASAR requirements.
