Homework 1, Due 9/21
Read the preliminary chapter of the text (Thomas/Finney) to
make sure you remember these basic material. Read also sections 1.1, 1.2,
1.4 and 1.5.
Make sure you are able to solve all the core problems in
these sections.
Get to learn the basic commands in MAPLE.
Commands you should know about for this week are "solve", "plot", and "limit".
Write up the following problems and hand them in; note that the material on
page 65 and 85 will be discussed in Tuesday lecture, 9/18/2001:
page 34 problem 78 (Use MAPLE to sketch the graphs and find the
intersection points)
page 65 problems 6, 18, 30, 40
