  • Read sections 3.7, 3.8, 4.1 and 4.3 (Thomas/Finney).

  • Make sure you are able to solve all the core problems in sections 3.6, 3.7 and 3.8.

  • Write up the following problems and hand them in:

      Page 242 problems 4, 12, 20, 26 (assume the volume of the silo is a fixed given number V; your answer will depend on V), 50.

      Page 258 problems 6, 18, 51.

      Page 266 problems 6, 22 (for the numerical computations in these problems, feel free to use a calculator or MAPLE, but show your steps and not just the final answers).

      Page 280 problems 2, 8, 16, 30, 48, 54, 64.
