Homework 7, Due 11/5

  • Read sections 4.3, 4.5, and 4.6 (Thomas/Finney).

  • Make sure you are able to solve all the core problems in these sections.

  • Read your lab manual and learn about the "int" command in MAPLE to do indefinite as well as definite integrals and "leftbox", "rightbox", "leftsum", "rightsum" commands for demonstrating and evaluating Riemann sums. It is very helpful to check out MAPLE demonstration #8 on this topic.

  • Write up the following problems and hand them in:

Page 296 problems 6, 10, 22, 24, 42, 58, 60 (do this last problem also by MAPLE to see which of the two answers you get).

      Page 320 problems 8, 32, 52, 90 (for this last problem, use MAPLE's ``leftbox'' and ``leftsum'' commands for n=4, 10, 20, 50 subdivisions).
