Use Kompozer or Seamonkey Composer to Make
the index.html page
-
Launch Kompozer or Seamonkey
Composer. Click on Window, then Composer.
-
Click on Format. A small window
will pop up. Enter a descriptive title for your
page, e.g. "Math Anxiety Resources for Teachers
and Parents". You should also enter a short
description of the purpose of the web page.
Click OK when finished.
-
The format section allows you to
change the general look of the web page. Click
on format, and then on "page colors and
background". You can accept the default colors
or you can click on the radio button next to
"custom colors" to change the background of the
page and the various colors of links. After you
have made your changes, you need to save your
file. You should save often, at least after
every major change.
-
Saving your web page: Click on
"File" then on "Save as". Next browse for your
website folder. Now enter the file name
"index.html" and click the "save" button.
-
I recommend that you use tables
to organize the layout of your web pages. To
insert a table, click on "table" then "insert"
then choose the number of rows and columns you
would like. Notice that the border is set to
"1". This means that a very thin border will be
visible on the table. If you do not want to see
the border, change this to "0". For now, leave
the width of the table at 100%. When the table
is set to 100% it will expand to fill the screen
irregardless of the monitor or screen
resolution. If you click on "advanced edit", you
can change the padding and spacing around the
cells.
-
Once you have placed your table
on the page, you can now add your text, images
and links.
Note: After each step, you might want
to view the HTML source. This will help you to learn
the various HTML tags. You can view the HTML source
by clicking on HTML source at the bottom of the
Mozilla Composer screen.
