Overview
Math 142 is the second course in a three term calculus sequence. The course begins with the integral, and continues with inverse functions, and some applications of the integral. A grade of C- or better in Math 141 is required to enroll in Math 142 and a grade of C- or better in Math 142 is required to enroll in Math 143.
Practical information
The class is scheduled to meet in Kiely 414 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Section 03 meets 9:15--10:30 and Section 04 meets 10:45--12:00.

The textbook
The textbook for the course is Stewart's Essential Calculus 2nd ed. The syllabus is basically chapters 4, 5, and 7.

Course grades will be determined by five exams:
- Four in-class midterm exams (20%)
- A comprehensive in-class final exam (30%)
Grades will be determined by the registrar's grading guidelines registrar's grading guidelines. Notice that there is a 10% bonus built in.

The exams are scheduled as follows:
- Exam 1: Tuesday, September 13
- Exam 2: Thursday, October 13
- Exam 3: Tuesday, November 8
- Exam 4: Thursday, December 1
- Final Exam: Wednesday, December 14 from 10:45 - 1:15 in Kiely 258
Also, be aware of the CUNY Academic Calendar. In particular, our class is not scheduled to meet on Tuesday October 4, Thursday, October 6, or Tuesday, October 11. Also, our class will not meet on Thursday, September 1.
