- Explore worldchanging.org
- Form teams - post your team name and group member's names on the forum
- Brainstorm individually and with your group on possible topics for
your worldchanging project. Post 3 possible ideas for your
project on the forum
- Try out your USB

- You will use your flash drive for the following

will create a digital portfolio of all of your work. Create a new
folder entitled "YourName-Portfolio". You can then copy and save
all of the files you create in this program into this folder.
- You can also install the following on your usb flash drive:
Class Activity - Today's Technology tool is SUMOPAINT! - Go to sumopaint.com
- Watch Sumopaint in Action first
- Use
sumopaint to draw a quick sketch of a computer scientist. Save
the file as your-name-cs.gif and then post your image by attaching it
to a message on the forum in Science Moodle. Also save your image on your USB drive in your portfolio folder.

10:00 to 11:00 Class ActivityToday's Technology Tool is Wikispaces Make a wiki - login to your Queens Inquiry email account. You should find an invitation to join our wikispace. Follow the instructions in the email to join.
- login using your wikspaces account
- Go through the Wikispace Help
and Tour
- Plan what you want on your wikispace. Each
person on the team should make at least one wikispace page. These
individual pages should all be linked to the team homepage.
- Set up wikispace for
projects

Homework assignment - Making and Sharing Digital FlashcardsRead one or more of the following:
- Computer Hardware
- Software
- Sign up for a free account with http://quizlet.com.
- Read "How do I get started?" and watch a demo video
- Make
a least 10 flash cards. Each flash card should have the name of a
computer part on one side with an explanation of its function and how
it works on the other. Share your set of flash cards by posting a link to your flash cards on the forum in
Science Moodle.

called qsisummer2009 where we can share our cards. I will send
you invitations to this group during class, remind me if you don't get
an invitation.

- Login to our class in Science Moodle
- What is Web 2.0?
- Go to Wordle and select, copy and paste the text from the article at the following url into
wordle. Save the resulting image in your digital portfolio. Try using
some of the other url's from our computer class in wordle.
- Another cool example of a Web 2.0 application: Flockdraw.
Your task is to work in teams to develop a poster tentatively titled
"Away from Oil". Your team's poster should help to encourage
people to move away from using oil and fossil fuels and to conserve
energy and use alternative energy sources instead.

Make a glog
- login using your edu glogster account
- Go through the glogster tutorial
- Plan what you want to put on your glog
- Make a title and a link to your wikispaces page.

- Using
the Flip Mino video camera, each team should make a short video
introducing the topic of your Worldchanging project.
- Take
a sheet of paper and draw a vertical line. On the left side, write
down what you will do during the video. On the right side, write down
what you will say. Rehearse before you record your video.
- Save the video file in your digital portfolio on your usb flash drive.
