This tutorial will introduce three larger issues in sentence semantics that have been in the focus of research in recent years: (1) The principle of compositionality and its interaction with Gricean pragmatic considerations; (2) Syntactic and semantic factors that play a role in the interaction of quantifiers and negation; (3) Parallelisms between the domains of individuals and events.
