As a
high-energy type of person, I have found a comfortable and happy
existence living in
New York City.
Having accomplished my earlier dreams of landing a professional position
in a large city with immediate access to a large body of water, I am now
pursuing further life goals.
In
January of 2002 I adopted
Dexter,
a terrific miniature dachshund from a great breeder in Mandeville,
Louisiana while visiting New Orleans for the ALA Midwinter conference.
His full name is
Cappuccino's Magic
Midwinter Dexter.
His coat is a red "wild boar" and he loves playing with all people, big
and small, and in Inwood Hill Park
on weekend mornings; running free with all the other Manhattan Dogs.
I also
volunteer with the
Children's Aid Society
of New York City. I go on outings, take turns in tutoring, and doing
fundraising for the organization. In a way this is selfish preparation
for when I land a great Manhattan-based apartment with enough room to
adopt a child (or maybe two!) who no longer wants and needs to do
without the love of a family. When I'm not walking the dog or at work,
you can catch a glimpse of me and my partner roller-blading around "the
City," gardening, cooking great meals for friends, traveling, or
listening to music and working on Mom's Christmas presents. (Usually a
cross stitch project.)
Evenings - I like to go to the movies, enjoy the "cultcha" of Gotham,
(wine on the
Great Hall balcony at the
Met anyone?!),
or hang with the friends around town. Life is full - Keep on movin'!
Cheers! Michael
