Online Certificate Program

Queens College Continuing Education offers lifelong learning opportunities through non-credit courses for personal and professional development. Along with Penn Foster and Thomson Education you'll learn about opportunities in your chosen field and get the latest information for achieving your career goals. All of our Online Certificate programs feature "hands-on" experience with today's technology. We offer online courses with a home-based component. You can view the curriculum by clicking on the course. Once you have done this you may register for the course by clicking "Course Browser," located to the left of the screen.. Penn Foster and Thmson Education will be mailing you lessons and learning aids that you need to complete your training. There's no commute to classes, no need to rearrange your schedule. Study where and when you choose, and still have time for your family and social life. Even though you learn at home, you're never alone. You can be assured of getting all the help you need from your instructors, consultants, and the rest of our dedicated staff when you need it. When you have a question, help is just a toll-free phone call or an e-mail away.

ENROLLMENT PROCESS
Select the certificate program that you are interested in. The Queens College Website offers program curriculum, the course overviews, and lists each programs tuition fee. You can even view forecasts of employment demand and salary ranges by career.
When you are ready to enroll simply click on the "COURSE BROWSER " which is located on the left of your screen. There you would select the SPRING 2008 session.

ONCE YOU ENROLL
Once you enroll in to the program you will immediately receive a verification of your registration. Within a few days you will receive, by mail, a Student ID number. With this Student ID number you will be able to download immediately some of your first study materials. You should begin your lessons as soon as possible, the sooner you start the sooner you'll earn your Certificate. In about two weeks from the time you register all your learning materials and supplies will be shipped directly to you.
Your courses are designed so that you can study independently. However, if you have a question about anything in your program, Penn Foster and Thomson Direst offer a toll-free instructional support hotline. Faculty and instructional advisors are available to answer your questions from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday. On weekends and holidays, you can leave a message and your call will be answered the next business day. You can also contact your instructors by e-mail or, if you prefer, by regular mail.

TAKING EXAMS
At the end of each lesson, you take an online exam. You can complete your exam online through Penn Fosters Online database. You can also submit your examinations by mail. As soon as you pass your exam, you can go on to the next lesson. New course material will follow as you complete your exams, so that you will always have books and learning materials to continue moving forward.

COMPLETION
Once you have passed all your courses, you will receive your certificate from Queens College Continuing Education. Depending upon the program you choose, you can complete your training in just a few months from today! Or, take up to two years to complete a program.*
* Students enrolled in the Court Reporter Program may take up to three years to complete their training.

Tuition and Fees - Tuition varies for each program. Please check the course description on this web site for a specific course's tuition.
Do you ship Overseas? - No we do not ship Overseas.
Do you offer financial aid? - No, there is no financial aid available. There is an educational loan that you may apply for through TERI (The Educational Resources Institute). You can contact TERI at 1-800-255-8374 or call (718) 997-5739 or email cep@qc.edu for an application. You will be asked about your employment history and TERI will do a credit check to determine your eligibility.
How do I register? - You can register from this website over a secure server. Each course listing has an enroll on-line button. Once pressed, you will be taken to forms to fill in your personal information and your credit card #. Confirmation is given at the end of the process. Print out your confirmation.You can register for more than one course at a time. (We suggest you do so.)
Do you offer discounts? - There are no discounts on the Online Certificate Programs.
Do I need prior education for the certificate programs? - Each program has its own educational requirements. Some have none. Some require a high school diploma (GED).
What payment methods do you accept? - We accept VISA, MasterCard and Discover.
