Making Your First Web Page Using Notepad We said that html files are actually just text files. Therefore you can use a simple text editor to make a web page. 1) In Windows, click on the Start
button, then Programs, Accessories, then Notepad. <html> <body> <p>Hello world!>/p> </body> </html> 3) Click on File, Save as, and name your file, hello.html Make sure to notice where you saved your file. 4) Now open up your web browser, e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, Google Chrome, etc. Click on File, Open, Browse, find your file, and click OK. You should now see your first web page, congratulations! 5) Try viewing the source code of your web page by clicking on View, Source. You don't have to know html to make web pages but it can come in very handy if you have a problem such as a broken link. It's kind of similar to driving a car. Anyone can do it and you really don't have to understand what goes on under the hood. |
