Queens College Chorus

Sandra Babb, conductor

The Queens College Chorus is an auditioned ensemble of 70-80 singers consisting primarily of music majors, though students from other disciplines frequently participate. Repertoire is broad and embraces a wide variety of styles, including the occasional performance of major works together with the Queens College Choir and/or Choral Society.  Recent performances have included Verdi’s Stabat Mater, Thomas Tallis’ motet If Ye Love Me, Daniel Gawthorp’s Sing Me to Heaven, excerpts from Glenn McClure’s Caribbean Mass and Paul Bassler’s Missa Kenya, an evening of opera choruses with the QC Orchestra and Metropolitan Opera star Erika Sunnegårdh, Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem, Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms, and arrangements of African-American spirituals by William Dawson, Roy Ringwald and Moses Hogan. In December 2007, the QC Chorus was one of the featured ensembles at St. Patrick’s annual holiday celebration "A City Singing at Christmas."
