Welcome to the
Queens Affective Neuroscience Laboratory

We employ behavioral methods to identify situations in which emotions are adaptive and maladaptive for behavior. We are interested in how emotion interacts with cognitive control to influence metabolic resources, cognition, and memory. An additional focus is the influence these interactions have on social factors such as the activation and use of attitudes, stereotyping, social perception, and prosocial behaviors.

Another line of research examines deficits in emotional processing and emotion regulation associated with neuronal damage in the amygdala and other brain areas for individuals with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.
