Welcome to the
Queens Affective Sciences Laboratory

We employ behavioral methods to identify situations in which emotions are adaptive and maladaptive for behavior. We are interested in how emotion, through goal-directed behavior, regulates executive functions and the expenditure of psychological resources. More broadly, our research examines how emotion in support of goal-driven behavior modulates processing including perception, cognition, and executive function in a systematic manner. By understanding systematic effects caused by emotion, we can begin to identify the mechanisms emotion moderates to influence processing, learning and memory, decision making, and behavior.

Another line of research examines emotion and spatial deficits caused by neurological dysfunction associated with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.
